Why did you start running?
About 5 years in my late 50 ‘s, my dog and my husband were both injured and couldn’t walk with me so started run walking so I wasn’t away too long. I then saw an advert for Race for Life and decided I could run 5k In memory of my first husband.
Why the Orchard Eagles?
Soon after I started running, I was out on my bike one evening and met some of the Eagles on a Thursday night run. When I mentioned I had just started running and could do a very slow 5 k they suggested I come the following Monday for a trial run. My first run was a hill repeats session up Goose Pastures and then Carr bridge close which nearly put me off, but the people were very friendly. I was relatively new to the area so have found it a great way to make new friends. The support and encouragement by the coaches, leaders and other members has enabled me to take part in events I would never have thought possible and introduced me to trail running, particularly the Hardmoors events.
Which is Your favourite distance?
I have run a lot of different distances including 3 slow road marathons but now prefer to run trail events. My favourite distance is the half marathon but have done longer.
What is your Greatest running achievement?
Last summer I ran/walked the Lakeland Trails 55k with Sarah Hoggarth. I have spent a lot of time in the Lake district, so it was a very special event for me
